Let the assembly of scarecrows begin! Get together with your family, co-workers, or any team, to create a scarecrow for the Scarecrow Festival at Lake Julian Park Oct. 25–31. You can also create a scarecrow on your own if you prefer to work in solitude. Mwa-ha-ha! You do just need to register by October 19th to take part. There is no fee to enter.
Scarecrows will be judged on originality/creativity, design, and workmanship. There are a few different categories to consider: Traditional, Recycle and Reduce, and Cultural. Winners in each category, Judges’ Best of Show, and People’s Choice will each win a free picnic shelter rental! Simply for entering you will receive a vehicle admission pass to Festival of Lights!
Voting will happen on the social media pages for the Buncombe County Recreation Services from Oct. 26th -28th.
