The good news? The WNC Bigfoot Festival is not canceled. It is, however, postponed.
Because of the rise in COVID cases festival organizers decided to postpone the popular event scheduled for this week, out of caution. We can now plan to celebrate our beloved Sasquatch in May of 2022.
Last year in lieu of the festival there was a Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt involving several businesses in downtown Marion. This year they’re hoping to plan something similar, again involving local businesses, who would be enjoying a large number of Bigfoot fans traveling to Marion, NC from all over the world to show their love and fascination with The Big Guy.
The businesses embrace the festival with items such as Bigfoot Poop, a baked delicacy from one of Downtown Marion’s bakeries. There is also the self-guided Bigfoot Mural trail through downtown and the Bigfoot Calling Contest which may explain the many appearances at the festival from the usual shy feller.
The festival was started in 2018 and in just the first two years over 70,000 fans came to enjoy the Bigfoot lifestyle.
Even though the festival has been moved to the spring, you can still try your luck at a sighting on one of the many Bigfoot trails which you can find here. Those trails include the McDowell Greenway, Newberry Creek Trail, Tom’s Creek Falls, Crabtree Falls, Old Fort Picnic Area, Point Lookout Trail, and Lake James Trails/Lake James State Parks.
We’ll see you in the spring Sasquatch!!
