One of the most beloved and highly acclaimed gems in Asheville is live theater productions presented by the Montford Park Players at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre. The company is the longest-running Shakespearean theater group in the state of North Carolina! And all of this is at no cost to you!

Hazel Robinson began the theater group with a production of “As You Like It” performed at a park on Montford Avenue in 1973. Over the years the theater has become one of the 100 Things to Do in Asheville Before You Die.

A reimagined “Grimm’s Fairytales” continues through July 24th with three tales each recreated by three local women playwrights. Barbie Angell, Kathryn Langwell, and Honor Moor bring their witty perspective to these time-honored classics and the cast is simply brilliant. The show is directed by Victoria Lamberth with a female design & production staff! Spoiler alert: hilarious yet impressive tap dancing is involved!

Next up for the MPP is The Sword in the Stone to begin on July 30th. The classic Arthurian legend with some family-friendly adventure!

Enjoy a night under the stars with your favorite Asheville brew (you can bring your own!) and some of the most talented performers in Asheville.

Admission is free however you can reserve a chair for five dollars. Get all the info on the Montford Park Players‘ 2021 season by going to their website here.
