For the month of June the Food Hall will be open Wed-Sun, then will begin operating 7 days a week beginning in July.
The Market will house some of the best local food and drink from Asheville’s renowned culinary community. As if that isn’t exciting enough, the project brings new life to this gorgeous and historic building. Back in 1929 the building originally opened as the S&W Cafeteria. You’ll be able to see the exquisite art deco architecture that Asheville is known for while enjoying some of the best food and beer the city has to offer.
Five-time James Beard Nominee Meherwan Irani — of Chai Pani Restaurant Group and his Spicewalla spice company — is partnering with the Ellington Realty Group in the project. Chef Irani curated five exciting new concepts from popular local chefs and restaurateurs, including a new concept with his Buxton Hall partner, the celebrated chef, and pitmaster Elliott Moss.
Highland Brewing Company, Asheville’s original craft brewery, will be the anchor. The taproom at S&W will take up both the first floor and mezzanine-level bars.
With S&W Market, their goal is to stay true to the building’s storied past and original purpose (as a cafeteria), while doing so in a fresh and modern way to honor its place within the Asheville community’s future.
