Wild Wing’s Wild On The Water

New Summer Series At Wild Wing on Lake Julian

There’s no need to wait for the weekend to get on the water, thanks to a new summer series at Wild Wing Cafe in South Asheville.

Wild on the Water, Thursdays from 5 to 8 pm, gives you a chance to get out on the lake in a kayak or stand up paddle board. The events are put on with Diamond Brand Outdoors, which brings demo watercraft, along with Buncombe County Recreation Services and Asheville’s 98.1 the River.

“It was my first time on a stand-up paddle board, and I’m proud to say I didn’t fall off,” says Jordan, the evening host on 98.1 the River. “It was a great chance to get my feet wet, so to speak, before making a purchase.”

wwAfter you’re done on the water, you can enjoy a bite and a beverage, and live music. Izzi Hughes, the talented 16-year-old guitar player and vocalist from Hendersonville, is the featured performer June 8.

“We love having The River on the lake at Wild Wing, meeting our listeners and making new friends and handing out prizes,” Jordan adds. “It’s a nice way to make an early transition into the weekend.”

There’s no charge to board a boat, and well-behaved leashed dogs with well behaved owners are welcome to hang out on shore.
