Haunted Grove Inferno The Grove House Entertainment Complex is famous for the scariest and best annual Halloween costume and dance party in WNC. You’ll be terrified by monsters lurking around every corner. Beware of three levels themed to favor Dante’s Inferno nine circles of hell. One price, three venues, three dance floors, four DJs, and a chance to win your share of $1000 in costume contest cash. Saturday, Oct. 29. $25 admission, with a chance to save $5 with advanced tickets. Gates open at 9pm, with costume contest registration from 9:30pm-12:30am. Costume contest on main stage at 1am. Haunted Trail The complete non-scary scare package includes a heart pumping walk where you’ll enter different worlds with live actors, spooky sounds, and spectacular props that will leave you questioning reality. After adrenaline reaches its peak, guests spill out screaming and laughing into the Party at Pisgah Park, with crafts, food trucks, and amusing, super-sized games and Pisgah beer on tap for the grown-ups! Younger ghouls can enjoy the “Sweet Peek Tour” before it gets dark and the Party at Pisgah Park has plenty of entertainment while braver family members explore the trail. Tormented Nightmares Haunted House Officially opening Sept. 30, will take you where your darkest fears become reality, and your fears come to life. As you walk through the corridors and different rooms, you’ll experience terrifying and unnerving characters and scenes that will make you terrified at the thought of going to sleep. This attraction is not recommended for those under 13. Tickets $18 on standard nights, and $20 for peak nights (Oct. 21-22 and Oct. 28-29). Start your weekend fun early and save when you visit on $13 Thursdays! Tormented Nightmares is located off of Old US 70, in the complex with Pisgah Brewing and Black Mountain Ciderworks and Meadery, 104 Eastside Drive, #525, Black Mountain.

Eliada Corn Maze Get lost for the kids – support the Eliada Homes for Children. The full corn maze has 4 miles of trails to explore, and for the younger visitors, a Storybook Trail. One price gets you into all the attractions, including the big bounce pillow, culvert slides, corn cannons, cow train and hayride. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for kids 4 to 15, and 3 and under. It’s open through Oct. 23: 9am to 3pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am to 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 10am to 6pm Sundays.

Sure, you could take the easy way out go with the already done-up and decorated treats at the grocery store. The top sellers among millenials are expected to be Pokemon GO, Suicide Squad, and the Avengers. For Gen-Xers, Star Wars inspired garb. 28% of shoppers are searching for something scary. 40% want a costume that makes them more beautiful or sexy. The shopping survey was conducted by Edelman Intelligence during the summer of 2016 and polled 1,000 nationally representative consumers aged 18 and older.
