Carolina Donut Festival Returns

An event based on donuts has a hole lot of appeal, so it’s no surprise that Marion’s Carolina Donut Festival is returning for another year.

The inaugural event last spring was started by “Mr. Bob” Masiello of Mr. Bob’s Donuts. If you’ve never been to downtown Marion to try his treats, you should know plenty of folks, including staffers from Food Network Magazine, have. They named his “apple ugly” best in the nation. It’s a great accolade, but Mr. Bob loves running a small-town bakery that gives back.

Saturday, May 20, downtown Marion will host its second Carolina Donut Festival, with a chance for community organizations in the county to raise some money, and an opportunity for you to earn some dough, too, with a donut eating contest and donut pageant among the fun family activities planned. Mr. Bob’s has partnered with Jim Cook Chevy to raffle a 2017 Cruze, with proceeds going to McDowell county Schools.

New this year: the Bob’s to Bob’s Half Marathon, which will start at Mr. Bob’s second location in the town of Old Fort, and make its way to the main festival area at Mr. Bob’s original place on Main Street.
