Catawba Releasing Carolina Common, HOPness Monster

New Offerings Include Small Batch & Flagship IPA

It’s time to taste what’s new Catawba Brewing, with the release of two beers: California Common and HOPness IPA.

The small batch California Common (5.5% ABV) is available now in Catawba’s four tasting rooms, and in limited distribution. It is passport beer #20 in the brewery’s weekly small batch series. This interpretation of the classic steam beer was brewed according to tradition, with a touch of dark specialty malts, lagered at warmer temperatures. The beer has rich flavor notes of caramel and toasted malt, with moderately assertive hop character (Fuggle and Palisade).

The brewery will unveil its new flagship HOPness IPA Saturday, May 20, with release day festivities planned at every Catawba location. Brewed with an abundance of fresh Citra and Cascade, and dry-hopped with Amarillo, this IPA boasts a big biting hop profile layered with ripe tropical fruit, juicy citrus, and pine. At 6.5 percent ABV and 60 IBUs, it strikes the perfect balance of everyday drinkability with intensely aromatic and flavorful hop character.

HOPness IPA will soon be available in 5-state distribution, on draft and in 6-pack cans, wherever Catawba beers are sold. The beer will also be featured at the 2017 Beer City Festival on Saturday, May 27.
